At the upcoming Apple conference this fall, not only the iPhone 14 series are being highly expected, but also the release of the official beta of iOS 16.

After this year's WWDC conference, Apple released the iOS 16 internal beta.Recently, Apple officially added a "Lockdown Mode" to iOS 16, mainly to protect users from cyber attacks.Use it only if you think you might be the target of a hacker.

Apple says that the opt-in iPhone Lockdown Mode will provide an extreme level of security. And the mode level truly isn’t meant for the average person. It’s made for the very very small percentage of users who might be specifically targeted by highly sophisticated threats.

With Lockdown Mode enabled,the device functionality is limited to greatly reduce the ‘attack surface’ of potential exploits and harden defenses. It will not function properly, and websites, apps, and other features are subject to strict security restrictions.

While the vast majority of users will never fall victim to a targeted cyber attack, all users of Apple devices still need to be protected, said Ivan Krsti, Apple's head of security engineering.

In order to test the security level of the iOS 16 "Lockdown Mode", Apple released a bounty of up to 2 million dollars to encourage people to break it’s lockdown mode of the iOS 16 system.In fact, Apple has long encouraged users to find and report their products’ bugs.

Apple will increase the bounty amount from $200,000 to $1,000,000 per bug, based on the nature and importance of security bugs reported by users.Last month, according to research conducted by Atlas, Apple's bug bounty program was five times larger than Huawei and Samsung, which came in second and third.
