Apple Wants to Add More Ads Spaces To The App Store

On July 30, Apple said that it will expand its advertising business and is preparing to add two new ads spaces in the App Store. As we all know, there are currently two ads spaces in the Apple App Store: one for the primary search tab ads and the other for the search results ads in the App Store. Apple today added two new ad spots to the App Store that will bring ads to the Today page of the App Store.

The new ads spaces in the Apple App Store will allow developers to place ads outside of the search tab and search results. Firstly, a new ads spot will appear on the App Store's Today page. Apple says that the rest spaces of Today page will continue to focus on management and discovery, and they will mark the ads positions with clear blue labels, much the same as in search ads. This is a very "lucrative" place for Apple and developers, as it is on the first page that users will see when they open the App Store, and that could have a very high conversion rate.

The second new ads placement is a little more direct, with Apple placing it directly on the product page. This means that developers can now place their own ads on the details pages of other apps. Unfortunately, however, this ads place is located at the bottom of the product page. While you can place your own ads on other people's apps, you can't target them to specific apps. Twitter, for example, can't specifically target ads on Tweetbot, so it's not unusual for you to see a competitor's ad on the Tiktok page.

In a statement, Apple explained that these new ads placements provide developers with an additional way to target and reach new customers, while they still have to comply with Apple's privacy commitments:Apple Search Ads offers developers the opportunity to develop their business. These new ads placements are built on the same foundation as our other ads products. They will only contain content from the apps approved by App Store and will follow the same strict privacy standards.
